Bring a flat leash, flat or training collar. No retractable leashes or harnesses, please. Also bring water for you and your dog.
Please respect the 10 foot rule (do not approach anyone or their dog within a 10’ radius, with your leashed dog before and during training, unless instructed otherwise). $20.00 (including tax).

Come Early as we have had a large amount of attendees the last few weeks. The more training the better, especially learning to do so Calm and Assertive. We will also be talking about rattle snake encounters, as the weather gets warmer and hotter in the coming months.

We are working on on-leash reactivity issues, as well as off leash recall and socialization issues. Please arrive with your dog on leash, for the first part of class. This gives us the opportunity to show off our perceived skills, and work on the ones we really need to. We learn more from our dogs when they are off leash, in a public environment.

Off-leash training at Frank Ortiz Park 2:00 PM, 160 Camino De Las Crucitas. Meet at the largest and furthest west parking area by the water station/message board. Bring ample sun gear and water for you and your dog. Help your dog acclimate by placing him/her in a stay, then unload from car, immediately placing them into a sit/stay. Keep in a stay, walk away towards the field, and then call. When dog approaches, continue to call them to you and immediately place in a sit/stay again. This sets the stage for training around other off-leash dogs.

Meet at the US District Courthouse Park at 106 S Federal PL (Corner of Paseo De Peralta, and Washington Ave across from the Scottish Rite Temple). We will walk through populated areas to train on public behavior and manners. Walk will include part of 3 of 3 class for AKC CGC certification training.

Ski Sandia Hike. Meet at Fort Marcy Park and depart at 9:30 Sunday morning to caravan up the mountain. Meet and execute pack hike at 10:00 . Bring water, hiking gear, and leashes for first part of hike from parking lot by drop off area near mountain streams. Excellent exercise in pack behavior and off-leash socialization. Recall is necessary, so start to practice now.
